After a good week, the rivers are rising again

Unfortunately the snowmelt has the Grand and Chagrin Rivers on the rise again.  The bonus to rising rivers is the potential for some creek fishing.  Steelheading opportunities can be found in Big Creek at Helen Hazen Wyman, Paine Creek at Indian Point and Mill Creek at Hogback Ridge.

As always the Chagrin River will drop and clear before the Grand River for some potential fishing during the Holiday.  Reports of fishable conditions came in today from Pleasant Valley Park.  Be sure to check the river gauges before heading out to fish.

With the wintry spring conditions the fish are still hanging in the deeper sections of the river as proven by multiple reports of success throughout the week from Grand River Landing.

The Fischer family had a great day at Grand River Landing on Wednesday, landing a total of 16 steelhead including both children's first steelhead.  What a memorable day!

Anglers are still catching the rainbow trout that were recently stocked at Veterans Park.  Carl had a successful day on Wednesday using power bait.

There is a new leader in the Painesville Steelhead contest!  This 33 3/4 inch, 13lb 1 oz beauty was caught Sunday in Conneaut Creek.  Happy fishing!
